Reports - Rolling programme of crime data integrity inspections
Following a 2014 inspection of crime-recording in all police forces in England and Wales, we introduced a rolling programme of inspections. The inspections were to assess the progress made by forces against recommendations set out in the 2014 reports.
The programme was carried out over several years. The finding of these inspections are set out in the force reports listed below.
In autumn 2020, we carried out a victim service assessment (VSA) of Greater Manchester Police. This assessment focused on the experience of the service provided by the force to victims of crime, including how well they record crime.
Future VSAs are incorporated into our updated annual PEEL programme that assesses the effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy of police forces in England and Wales.
