Isle of Man Constabulary
Part of: International and specialist agencies
HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services inspects police forces in British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies on invitation from the relevant authority.
We inspect the Isle of Man Constabulary (IOMC) on invitation by the Minister of Home Affairs.
IOMC is a relatively small force and its capacity and capability have limitations. For this reason, we do not compare it directly with other forces or grade it.
Report
In 2021, the Isle of Man Department of Home Affairs invited us to inspect the IOMC.
The terms of reference were as follows:
- how well the IOMC deals with vulnerable people;
- how well the IOMC tackles serious and organised crime; and
- the governance arrangements for the IOMC.
Our report made 17 recommendations and highlighted 17 areas for improvement. Some of our findings required urgent action.
