Bermuda Police Service inspections
Part of: International and specialist agencies
It is not laid out in law that HMIC should inspect the Bermuda Police Service, however the inspection below was carried out at the request of His Excellency, the Governor, Sir Richard Gozney (in consultation with the Commissioner of Police, Michael DeSilva). The inspection was conducted by HM Assistant Inspector of Constabulary, Mr Vic Towell. The Terms of Reference for the inspection can be found in the report, at Appendix A.
The inspection included a review of documents and performance data and a preparatory visit to Bermuda between 6 and 10 June 2011, where inspectors gained a detailed understanding of the policing context. The inspection continued with a series of structured interviews, focus groups and reality checking conducted between 7 and 10 November 2011.

Please note: In July 2017 HMIC took on responsibility for fire & rescue service inspections and was renamed HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS). Inspections carried out before July 2017 may continue to refer to HMIC.
