Counter-terrorism, Police and Crime Commissioners  — 

In June 2014, the East Midlands PCCs asked HMIC to inspect the effectiveness and efficiency of the single counter-terrorism grant arrangement at the East Midlands Special Operations Unit. The East Midlands region comprises the police forces of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. HMIC previously inspected the wider collaboration arrangements for these forces in 2013.

This report sets out our findings on the arrangements that police forces have in place to ensure police act honestly and with integrity, and on the capability of police forces in England and Wales to respond to complaints, internal reports and intelligence about misconduct and corruption.

Data, Rape Monitoring Group  — 

On behalf of the national Rape Monitoring Group (RMG), HMIC has published 42 local area digests to provide a data set to enable more thorough analysis of how rape is dealt with in a particular area of England and Wales.

Speech  — 

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary, gave a speech at The Centre for Social Justice about the role HMIC plays in helping to promote the well-being of vulnerable people when they come into contact with the police.

Child protection  — 

This report sets out findings from our review of the business processes police forces in England and Wales use to collect, record, process, evaluate and share information in the wake of the mistakes that have been made in the handling of information relating to, and allegations of, sexual abuse.

Firearms  — 

In May 2013, the Association of Chief Police Officers’ Firearms and Explosive Licensing Working Group invited HMIC to inspect firearms licensing. In July 2013, the Home Secretary gave approval for HMIC to examine how well police forces had responded to concerns raised about firearms licensing in previous reports on the subject. This report sets out the findings from the inspection.

As part of a new annual inspection of police forces in England and Wales, HMIC has published a thematic and individual force reports on the findings of inspections of policing efficiency. The reports are concerned with the question: How efficient are the police at keeping people safe and reducing crime?
