The first of a series of inspection reports into child protection has been published today by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary. The inspection examined child protection in Norfolk Constabulary in April 2014. It is the first in a rolling programme of inspections of all police forces in England and Wales.

HMIC has published the first batch of force reports from our current crime data integrity inspection programme which follow on from the interim report we published in May 2014. These reports include specific recommendations for each force on how to improve the accuracy of, and therefore public confidence in, the way the police records crime.

HMIC is extending the consultation period for responses to our proposals for a new programme of regular police force inspections, to allow as many people as possible to have their say. The closing date for responses is now Friday 12 September 2014.
