Between September and November 2021, we inspected Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and identified two causes of concern. This letter gives an update on our findings.

This is the third time that HMICFRS has inspected fire and rescue services across England. Our focus is on the service they provide to the public, and the way they use the resources available. This includes: Devon and Somerset, Essex County, Gloucestershire, Humberside, Lancashire, London, Northampton, Norfolk, Nottingham, Oxfordshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Tyne and Wear, West Sussex and West Yorkshire.

The inspection assesses how effectively and efficiently Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service prevents, protects the public against and responds to fires and other emergencies. We also assess how well it looks after the people who work for the service.

This is Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Fire & Rescue Services’ report to the Secretary of State under section 28B of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004. It contains his assessment of the sector in England, based on the inspections we carried out during 2021.

Cause of concern, Letter, Revisit  — 

We made our second revisit to Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) virtually between 22 and 26 February 2021. This letter gives an update on our findings about progress against Gloucestershire FRS’s action plan.
