Severity assessment

A written assessment that an appropriate authority carries out to determine whether alleged behaviour, if proven, would be considered misconduct, gross misconduct or neither.  

As part of the assessment, the appropriate authority assesses the form that any disciplinary proceedings would be likely to take. This would be a misconduct meeting or a misconduct hearing.
