HMICFRS strategy
His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) provides the public and their elected representatives with independent assessments of the efficiency and effectiveness of police forces and fire and rescue services. Through our programmes of inspections, we assess what is working well and what needs to improve, both locally and nationally, in order to help improve the service provided to the public.
Our statutory objectives are clearly defined, principally in the Police Act 1996 and the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004.
The strategy explains what HMICFRS aims to achieve as we fulfil our statutory objectives, and how we will continue to go about using our powers, insight and influence to best effect.
