The overarching purpose of HMICFRS, in common with the sectors we inspect, is to make the public safer. Our refreshed and simplified strategy describes how we intend to do that most effectively.

Working together with others, as One Team, is at the core of everything we do at HMICFRS. You see this through our inspections and the other work we do to support improvements in policing and in fire and rescue services. This, in turn, will make our communities safer.

Our strategy is made up of four equally important aspects. These are:

Being more proactive
Focusing on outcomes
Driving sustainable improvement
Promoting smarter systems
