In 2017, HMICFRS conducted a crime data integrity inspection of West Midlands Police. HMICFRS published the report of this inspection in June 2017 and concluded that the crime-recording arrangements in the force were not acceptable. The 2017 report made a series of recommendations and areas for improvement aimed at improving crime-recording in West Midlands. This re-inspection assessed the progress made since that report.
