Effectiveness, Efficiency, Legitimacy, PEEL  — 

As part of our annual inspections of police effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy (PEEL), HMICFRS assessed how effective the force is at keeping people safe and reducing crime. This report sets out the findings for Leicestershire Police.

Fraud  — 

In 2018, the Home Secretary commissioned HMICFRS to carry out an inspection of the police response to fraud. HMICFRS inspected the effectiveness and efficiency of the police response to fraud, including online fraud.

Domestic abuse, Effectiveness, PEEL  — 

This report is the fourth in a series of thematic reports, which consider the response the police service provides to victims of domestic abuse.

Speech  — 

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector was invited to speak at the College of Policing’s Strategic Command course. This speech was about the principles of modern inspection and their importance.

Consultations  — 

This consultation asks for your views on HMICFRS’ proposed inspection programme for 2019/20.

Crime recording  — 

In 2017, HMICFRS conducted a crime data integrity inspection of Leicestershire Police. HMICFRS published the report of this inspection in June 2017 and concluded that the crime-recording arrangements in the force were not acceptable. The 2017 report made a series of recommendations and areas for improvement aimed at improving crime-recording in Leicestershire. This re-inspection assessed the progress made since that report.

PEEL methodology, Research and evaluation  — 

This report sets out the results of HMICFRS’s fourth commissioned survey into public perceptions of policing in England and Wales, carried out by BMG Research.

Effectiveness, Mental health  — 

This report sets out our findings from an inspection into how effectively the police respond to and support people with mental health problems.

Child protection, Joint inspection  — 

Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HMICFRS and HMI Probation, examined the multi-agency response to older child exploitation and children missing from home, care or education. This builds on findings from the 2016 report, ‘Time to listen’ – a joined up response to child sexual exploitation and missing children’.

Hate crime, Research and evaluation, Study  — 

This research project was commissioned by HMICFRS to better understand the experiences of victims of hate crime. It provides a powerful victim perspective and complements our own inspection report on hate crime.
