The London Fire Brigade still has more work to do to fully address its failings from the Grenfell Tower fire, a new report has found.

On 14 June 2017, a fire at Grenfell Tower, a high-rise residential building in North Kensington, West London, cost 72 lives. On 15 June 2017, the then Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Theresa May MP, announced a public inquiry into the causes of the fire. The Grenfell Tower Inquiry was set up to examine the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the fire.

We conducted an inspection of the London Fire Brigade virtually between August and December 2020. As part of our inspection of what progress London Fire Brigade is making to implement the recommendations in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s Phase 1 report, we also considered the brigade’s progress to address the cause of concern we gave in our Round 1 inspection.
