On behalf of the national Rape Monitoring Group (RMG), HMICFRS has published a new interactive dashboard to enable a more thorough analysis of how rape is dealt with locally at each stage of the criminal justice system in England and Wales.

Protecting children is one of the most important tasks the police undertake. Only the police can investigate suspected crimes, arrest perpetrators and monitor sex offenders. Police officers have the power to take a child who is in danger into a place of safety, or to seek an order to restrict an offender’s contact with children. This inspection reviewed the progress made in Gloucestershire Constabulary since the publication of the previous national child protection inspection in 2017.

The Rape Monitoring Group was a multi-agency group in England and Wales, co-ordinated by HMICFRS. It was established in 2007 to promote improvements in response to rape across the criminal justice system.
