On 28 July 2016, the Home Secretary commissioned Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services to inspect the police’s response to the implementation of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 in England and Wales. This report sets out the findings from our inspection and recommendations for improvement.

Our Work

Between 2015 and 2020, HMICFRS carried out a programme of work to test whether crimes were being recorded by the police when they should be and categorised correctly. In July 2008 the Home Secretary introduced the Policing Pledge. The Pledge set out ten standards that police commit to uphold. HMICFRS (then HMIC) was asked to observe and report on Policing Pledge delivery across all 43 police forces in England and Wales.

Antisocial behaviour is behaviour that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one of more people from a different household than the perpetrator. We inspect and report on antisocial behaviour as part of our PEEL assessment programme.
