In November 2015, HMIC announced that it would inspect forces’ crime-recording practices in a rolling programme of every force in England and Wales. This rolling programme will be completed over a period of several years and will report on the progress made by forces since the 2014 crime data integrity inspection. This report sets out the findings of an inspection of Staffordshire Police.

HMIC’s efficiency inspection of the Police Service of Northern Ireland assessed how a force makes the best use of its available resources with the overall question ‘How efficient is the force at keeping people safe and reducing crime?’

Effectiveness, PEEL, Vulnerability  —  4 August 2016

In this inspection of effectiveness (vulnerability) in the PSNI, HMIC examined the overall question ‘How effective is the PSNI at protecting from harm those who are vulnerable, and supporting victims?’ This question considered how the service responds to and supports missing children and victims of domestic abuse, and assessed how well prepared the service is to respond to and safeguard children at risk of sexual exploitation.

Child protection, Joint inspection  —  3 August 2016

Between 20 and 24 June 2016, Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HMI Constabulary and HMI Probation undertook a joint inspection of the multi-agency response to abuse and neglect in Liverpool. This inspection included a ‘deep dive’ focus on the response to child sexual exploitation and those missing from home, care or education.
