In a written ministerial statement, the Policing Minister, Damian Green, announced that in 2014/15 HMIC will commence “a new annual programme of all-force inspections”. HMIC welcomes this decision. Planning for the new programme has now begun and more information will be made available soon.

As part of the HMIC Business Plan for 2013/14, it was agreed that HMIC would undertake work to assess the effectiveness of certain aspects of policing activity: preventative policing, police attendance and freeing up police time. These related business areas will now be delivered as one programme.
