In October 2022, we inspected Cheshire Constabulary to examine the effectiveness of the force’s vetting, IT monitoring and counter-corruption arrangements.

This is His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary’s first annual report to the Secretary of State under section 54(4A) of the Police Act 1996. It contains his assessment of the effectiveness and efficiency of police forces in England and Wales, based on the inspections we carried out between 1 December 2021 and 31 March 2023.
Child protection —
This inspection reviewed the progress made by Cheshire Constabulary since the publication of our report for Cheshire in 2022. It is part of a rolling programme of inspections of all police forces in England and Wales.
