Between 27 February and 3 March 2017, Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HMI Constabulary and HMI Probation undertook a joint inspection of the multi-agency response to abuse and neglect in Bradford. This inspection included a ‘deep dive’ focus on the response to children living with domestic abuse.

The Police Act 1996 requires Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary to report each year on his assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in England and Wales. The assessment covers the full breadth of policing work inspected by HMIC, and an overview of police forces in England and Wales. As required by that section, it contains his assessment of the efficiency and effectiveness of policing in England and Wales in respect of the inspection year 2016.

HM Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) has today published the report of inspection carried out in November 2016 of the child protection work undertaken by Humberside Police. These inspections are part of a rolling programme of child protection inspections of all police forces in England and Wales.

Today, Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Constabulary published their 2016 PEEL assessments.

PEEL is HMIC’s annual assessment of police forces in England and Wales. Forces are assessed throughout the year on their effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy. At the end of the year, all inspection findings, graded judgments and analysis, along with Her Majesty’s Inspectors’ professional judgment, are brought together to produce a rounded assessment of each force’s performance.
