In our 2023‑25 police efficiency, effectiveness and legitimacy inspection of Hertfordshire Constabulary, we raised a cause of concern regarding how constabulary is failing to record reports of crime correctly. We have closed this cause of concern.

This included an assessment of how effectively forces protect vulnerable people from harm, and support victims. This report sets out the findings from the revisit inspection of Hertfordshire Constabulary.

In 2014, the Home Office and College of Policing launched the Best Use of Stop and Search (BUSS) scheme. The scheme aims to achieve greater transparency and community involvement in the use of stop and search powers, and to support a more intelligence-led approach, leading to better outcomes. These reports set out the findings of a revisit inspection of 19 forces found to not be complying with one or two features of the scheme in 2015 inspections.
