The force says...

Warwickshire is a landlocked non-metropolitan county, covering 1,979 square kilometres comprising 236,000 households. In 2018 the population was estimated at 564,600. Some 20 percent are over 65 years, higher than the UK average. There are pockets of deprivation within the county that are ranked in the 20 percent most deprived areas nationally.

The county hosts a disproportionate number of motorways and major roads as compared with other similar sized forces.

On the 8th October 2018 West Mercia Police gave notice of their intention to terminate the strategic alliance from 8th October 2019. Both forces are committed to working together to ensure a smooth transition from the current alliance arrangements. Warwickshire believe the alliance has served both forces well, realising £35m in savings.

With change comes opportunities, which Warwickshire Police are keen to embrace. We do not underestimate the challenge, however plans to transition services are well underway and we are confident that we will continue to give the best service we can to the people of Warwickshire.

The last 12 months has seen a strengthening of our public confidence figures and we are one of the most improved forces in the country. We are now one of the top three forces nationally for problem solving, utilising this approach to manage demand for our Safer Neighbourhood Teams.

In August 2019 Warwickshire Police had 893 police officers, 85 police community support officers and 741 police staff. In 2018/2019 recorded crime has remained stable, which is better than the national picture.

In line with national trends, demand continues to rise in key areas such as vulnerability and we have reiterated our commitment to protecting people from harm and providing positive outcomes for victims. Ensuring our staff understand vulnerability and continuing to ‘see past the obvious’ remains a priority.
