The force says...

Warwickshire is a landlocked non-metropolitan county, covering 1,979 square kilometres comprising 231,000 households. In 2016 the population was estimated at 556,750. Some 20 percent are over 65 years, higher than the UK average. The largest towns are Nuneaton, Rugby, Leamington Spa, Warwick, Bedworth and Stratford-upon-Avon, with the majority of population in the north. There are pockets of deprivation within the county that are ranked in the 20 percent most deprived areas nationally.

Three major motorways run through Warwickshire and provide good access for travelling criminals.

In 2011 Warwickshire Police entered into a strategic alliance with West Mercia Police, which enabled both organisations to achieve budget reductions by operating more efficiently.

Between 2011/12 and 2016/17 Warwickshire delivered savings of £35.1m. During 2017/18, further savings totalling £6.7m were achieved. In 2018/19 further savings of £3.3m are needed and a further £8.5m by 2020/21 to bring expenditure into line with anticipated funding.  A total of £53.6m will have been delivered by the end of 2020/21.

In March 2017 Warwickshire Police had 835 police officers, 100 police community support officers and 587 police staff. Recorded crime in Warwickshire saw a continued rise in 2017. This is linked to increases in sexual and violent crime which reflect national trends.

The chief constable works closely with counterparts in West Mercia Police, and the forces have a shared vision and set of values, to protect people from harm, especially the most vulnerable members of our communities.

During 2017 our ambitious and innovative joint transformational change programme, Vision 2020, saw significant progress.  Our new ICT platform was implemented and we built a new state-of-the-art operations communications centre. Our policing model redesign is progressing well, while our mobile working project has seen smartphones and laptops being made personal issue. Body-worn video is now available to almost all frontline staff.
