Special procedures
As outlined in part 3 of the Police (Complaints and Misconduct Regulations) 2020, these procedures are used to protect the rights of a member of a police force or special constable who is being investigated for a serious matter.
Special procedures only apply when there is an indication that the accused person:
- may have committed a criminal offence; or
- has behaved in a way that would justify disciplinary proceedings.
