Police, fire and crime commissioner (PFCC)
Under powers in the Policing and Crime Act 2017, a police and crime commissioner can also be responsible for their local fire and rescue service.
In addition to their responsibilities in their police area, police, fire and crime commissioners:
- set the fire and rescue objectives for their area;
- are responsible for the fire and rescue service budget; and
- appoint and dismiss the chief fire officer.
