Domestic abuse protection notice (DAPN)

A notice issued by a senior police officer (inspector or above) prohibiting a person (‘P’) from being abusive towards a person aged 16 or over, who P has a personal connection with. It can also be issued if the senior police officer has reasonable grounds for believing it is necessary to protect that person from domestic abuse, or the risk of domestic abuse, carried out by P.

It may not be given to a person who is under the age of 18.
