Attenuating energy projectile

A weapon intended to give officers a less lethal use of force option in firearms and public order public safety operations.

In situations of serious public disorder, an officer of at least assistant chief constable or commander rank should authorise including the use of the attenuating energy projectile in the operational response plan (the tactical plan for managing the disorder). A senior tactical commander will decide whether it can be used depending on the threat and risk at the time of the incident.
