Our Fire and Rescue Service assessments give you information about how your local fire and rescue service has performed in several important areas. In our latest assessments of Shropshire FRS, we made the following graded judgments:
Shropshire is England’s largest inland county occupying approximately 3,490 square kilometres. It has a relatively low population spread out over a large area. The county has many historic areas, and has more than 7,000 listed buildings.
The local risks within Shropshire are diverse, ranging from dwellings in remote, rural locations to major industrial centres and significant heritage properties.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service operates from 23 strategically located stations across Shropshire. The service headquarters is in Shrewsbury and the training centre is in Telford. SFRS predominantly relies on on-call firefighters, drawn from their local communities, with a core of whole time firefighters to provide capacity, resilience and specialist skills.
