This report provides a national picture of abuse of position for a sexual purpose in police forces, drawing on the finalised findings from the 29 forces in the first two tranches of our integrated PEEL assessments, and the early findings from the third and final tranche of forces.
Criminal justice joint inspections, Custody suites —
This inspection into Devon and Cornwall Police is one of a series on police custody inspections carried out jointly by HMI Prisons and HMICFRS. The programme looks at strategy, treatment and conditions, individual rights and health care. It also contributes to the UK’s response to its international obligation to ensure regular and independent inspection of all places of detention.
Speech —
Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector was invited to speak at the Police Superintendent’s Association of England and Wales annual conference 2019. The title of the speech was ‘Criminal justice – the strains and opportunities we now face’.
Joint inspection, Leadership —
HMICFRS and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary in Scotland (HMICS) carried out a joint inspection to determine how effectively police forces select and train candidates for chief officer roles.
