In September 2023, we inspected how well the Metropolitan Police Service handled the sexual and criminal exploitation of children. We issued three causes of concern and made 11 recommendations. In September and October 2024, we revisited the force to review its progress.

In 2014, the Home Office and College of Policing launched the Best Use of Stop and Search (BUSS) scheme. The scheme aims to achieve greater transparency and community involvement in the use of stop and search powers, and to support a more intelligence-led approach, leading to better outcomes. These reports set out the findings of a revisit inspection of Metropolitan Police Service, which was one of 19 forces found to not be complying with one or two features of the scheme in 2015 inspections.
