In 2019, HMICFRS commissioned BMG Research to undertake a study of the public’s perceptions of local fire and rescue services across England. The study covers the public’s views and experiences of local fire and rescue services’ activities.

HMICFRS inspected how county lines drug trafficking is dealt with at local, regional and national levels. We concentrated on how the police and National Crime Agency identify and treat children and other vulnerable people involved in county lines offending.

Between 18 November 2019 and 22 November 2019, Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), HMI Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and HMI Probation (HMI Prob) carried out a joint inspection of the multi-agency response to ‘front door’ services, evaluating all forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation, as well as an evaluation of the responses to children’s mental health in Plymouth.

During our Derbyshire Constabulary Crime Data Integrity inspection, in December 2018, we identified a cause of concern about crime recording arrangements. We revisited Derbyshire in October 2019 to complete an audit of incident records.

In November 2015, HMICFRS announced that it would inspect forces’ crime-recording practices in a rolling programme of every force in England and Wales. This rolling programme will be completed over a period of several years and will report on the progress made by forces since the 2014 crime data integrity inspection. This report sets out the findings of an inspection of Norfolk Constabulary.
