In 2014, the Home Office and College of Policing launched the Best Use of Stop and Search (BUSS) scheme. The scheme aims to achieve greater transparency and community involvement in the use of stop and search powers, and to support a more intelligence-led approach, leading to better outcomes. These reports set out the findings of a revisit inspection of Derbyshire Constabulary, which was one of 19 forces found to not be complying with one or two features of the scheme in 2015 inspections.

Between 5 and 9 December 2016, Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HMI Constabulary and HMI Probation undertook a joint inspection of the multi-agency response to abuse and neglect in Hampshire. This inspection included a ‘deep dive’ focus on the response to children living with domestic abuse.

This is the first statutory inspection of the Royal Air Force Police, under Section 4 of the Armed Forces Act 2011. The inspection looked at the effectiveness of leadership and governance of the Royal Air Force Police.

Protecting children is one of the most important tasks the police undertake. Only the police can investigate suspected crimes, arrest perpetrators and monitor sex offenders. Police officers have the power to take a child who is in danger into a place of safety, or to seek an order to restrict an offender’s contact with children. The police service also has a significant role working with other agencies to ensure the child’s protection and well-being, longer term. This is the report of an inspection of Cumbria Constabulary.
