Wendy Williams appointed as HM Inspector of Constabulary
The Home Secretary has announced the appointment of Wendy Williams as HM Inspector of Constabulary.
Wendy joins HMIC from CPS Direct, where she is currently Chief Crown Prosecutor. Among other duties, Wendy will take over responsibility for the Wales and Western region from HMI Drusilla Sharpling (who has been announced as a member of the independent panel inquiry into child sexual abuse).
Sir Thomas P Winsor, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary, said:
“I and my fellow Board members are delighted that Wendy will be joining HMIC as HM Inspector of Constabulary. She brings with her a wealth of public, private and third sector experience, and so will bring a unique insight and perspective to our work of inspecting the police in the public interest.”
Wendy was selected following a rigorous recruitment process, which included approval by the Prime Minister and the Queen.
