Second quarterly update on Metropolitan Police Service child protection published
HMICFRS has published the second of four quarterly updates on the Metropolitan Police Service’s preparedness to deal with child protection issues, following the publication of our initial report in December 2016.
Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary, Matt Parr, said:
“Today we are publishing our second quarterly assessment of the Metropolitan Police Service’s progress against the recommendations of our 2016 child protection inspection. This begins to provide an assessment of the effectiveness of these changes upon the outcomes for vulnerable children in London.
“We have started to see some encouraging progress being made. We are aware that some actions will take time to become part of routine practice, but early signs are positive.
“But we are concerned that there are other areas that are less developed, with critical improvements not making enough progress. We will be making a full assessment of the changes that the MPS has made in our next quarterly review later this year. In particular, we expect to see the planned improvements starting to make a real difference to the children of London.”
