New HM Inspector of Constabulary announced
The Home Secretary has today announced the appointment of Rear-Admiral Matthew Parr CB as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Constabulary.
Matt Parr will be primarily responsible for the inspection and other work of HMIC in relation to the Metropolitan Police, the City of London Police, the National Crime Agency, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary and the British Transport Police. He will also lead HMIC’s work in the field of counter-terrorism, as well as carrying his share of HMIC’s national responsibilities.
Sir Thomas P Winsor, HM Chief Inspector of Constabulary, said:
“Matt brings to HMIC considerable expertise and experience which will be of very great value in our work, and I most warmly welcome him to this role. He takes over from HMI Stephen Otter, who left HMIC in May 2016 after four years’ distinguished service. Matt has been appointed for five years.”
He was selected following a rigorous recruitment process, which included approval by the Prime Minister and the Queen.
