His Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary (HMI): Lee Freeman is HMI for the Royal Air Force Police (RAFP)
The RAFP has over 1,200 personnel and is responsible for the security and safety of RAF aircraft, bases and employees. RAFP personnel are deployed to RAF bases in the United Kingdom and across the world. The force also has military provost guard service personnel, RAFP reserves and civil servants.
The RAFP deals with criminal and security investigations and the provision of counter intelligence and protective security activities. They also specialise in Military Working Dogs and Aviation Security.
HMICFRS has a statutory duty to inspect and report to the Secretary of State. We report on the independence and effectiveness of investigations carried out by each of the service police forces, including the Royal Military Police, under the Armed Forces Act 2011.
We ask the questions that we believe the public wish to have answered, and publish our findings, conclusions and recommendations. We use our expertise to interpret the evidence and make recommendations for improvement.
