Domestic abuse survey
HMIC has commissioned BMG Research, an independent market research company, to survey people who have experienced domestic abuse within the last 12 months.
Domestic abuse can be described as any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality. This can encompass, but is not limited to, the following types of abuse:
- psychological
- physical
- sexual
- financial
- emotional
The purpose of the survey is to gather information from people who have experienced domestic abuse in the last 12 months and to find out what they think of the way in which the police responded.
Any answers you provide will remain entirely confidential and anonymous.
Please submit this survey even if it is incomplete – all the answers you provide are valuable.
If you have concerns over your privacy in completing the survey online, at the end of the survey BMG Research have provided information which will help you to delete your browser’s history so that other people who use the same computer/laptop will not be able to see the sites you have visited.

The closing date for the survey is 26 January 2014.
