Sexual offences liaison officer

The first responder to allegations of a sexual offence. These officers gather evidence and information in a way that:

• preserves its integrity;
• contributes to the investigation;
• means the victim is more likely to have confidence in the investigation; and
• means the victim is more likely to trust the police.

Sexual offences liaison officers also provide support and information to victims in a sensitive and compassionate manner. Where appropriate, they also refer and signpost victims to other sources of support.
