About the service
Humberside Fire Authority is responsible for the fire & rescue service across the four unitary authority areas of the East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. It serves a population of almost one million people spread over around 1,300 square miles.
Firefighters are trained and ready to cope with a range of emergencies, not just fire. These include road, rail or air crashes, flood, animal rescues, chemical spills and even terrorist attacks.
All 999 calls are received by the control room at service headquarters in Hessle. Fire engines are then mobilised from 31 stations across the service area.
