East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service
Approximately a third of the population served by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is within the heavily urbanised City of Brighton & Hove. It works within a large and diverse area on the south coast of England, covering rural locations as well as a busy city centre and urban seaside towns.
The service responds to help people at a range of emergencies to save life, property and protect the environment along with its emergency service partners. It also works with local partners to run safety events and prevention campaigns and actively involve local communities wherever possible.
HMICFRS region and HMI

HMICFRS’s role in inspecting this service
For over 160 years, His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary independently assessed and reported on the efficiency and effectiveness of police forces and policing, in the public interest.
In summer 2017, HMIC (now HMICFRS) took on inspections of England’s fire & rescue services, assessing and reporting on their efficiency, effectiveness and leadership.
