About the Brigade

Cleveland Fire Brigade covers the areas of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees. The brigade has 14 stations across Cleveland.

The region has a mix of densely populated areas with high levels of deprivation and some more affluent or rural areas. 38 out of 79 wards within its boundaries are among 10 percent of the most deprived in the country.

The region has a major chemical production area, with 9,000 to 11,000 tanker movements a day, and 9 percent of national control of major accident hazard sites (COMAH).

The brigade also provides cover for two nuclear reactors, 6 Biomass/Energy Waste Power Stations, as well as the Tees and Hartlepool Port Authority and shared coverage of an international airport.
